How does one go about selecting and buying a diamond?
Hi Everyone,Thanks for looking. Im at a point in my relationship where im starting to think about proposing to my special girl. Ive done a bit of poking around on the internet and frankly, Ive been left a bit confused with all of the terminology different aspects of diamonds. I know that there are the 4C's, and although im by no means fluent in them I did find gia4cs.gia.edu to be very helpful. I also understand that there are grading reports which basically tell you the various attributes of the diamond. In my research ive found that there are several different companies that produce grading reports. Is one better than the others?What else do I need to know in order to make an informed decision? I would imagine that buying a diamond online can be less expensive than buying it in an actual store but the idea of buying something so valuable without first seeing it makes me a bit uneasy. Can anyone help me out with my questions and maybe share some personal experience?Thanks

This website sells loose diamonds but they dont have a GIA certificate. Only an appraised certificate which does not tell me its from anywhere....So if anyone have bought diamonds from them, please let me know if they are a legitimate company or just some kind of fraud...Thanks
How to tell what carat of diamond I am looking for?
Recently, my home was broken into and all the jewelry that my mom had left me was taken, along with mine. As you can imagine, the police have came up with nothing. I was goofing off online and found a setting of the ring that she had custom made which was one of the pieces taken. My question is, how do I go about researching diamonds that will fit the setting. All the add says is that the 2.25mm round. That is all that is said. After researching, I have found that most stones are sold by carat, not measurement. How do I go about figuring out what carat that size diamond would be. The add mentions nothing about depth.
