Question: Any ideas on the best diamond shape for long, thin fingers?
(Posted by: Lola on 2010-03-09 20:24:24)
I'm in the midst of trying to pick out an engagement ring, and I'm a little overwhelmed at all the choices. I've tried on a few styles, but I haven't found anything that looks good on my hand. I really don't have a clue as to what I want, and I don't know where to start looking. I have really long, thin fingers but my hands overall not very big (some people say I have delicate looking "piano hands "). Does anyone have any suggestions of shapes, settings etc that suit hands like mine? Oh and I don't want anything too extravagant, because it just isn't me :) Thanks! |

It really depends on your style – there are so many variations of styles – vintage, contemporary, solitaire with wedding band. Start out by going to stores and looking at diamond shapes – put them on your hand. See which one you like best. Here are a couple of ideas if you like – one is a simple Tiffany Knife Edge Setting with a Whiteflash ACA center stone: flickr.com/ photos/ whiteflashdiamonds/ 4385754308/ The other one is a Whiteflash Custom Design piece: com.pricescope.com/ photos/ whiteflash/ category1048/ picture3059.aspx Good Luck! |

Right..depends on what your budget is and how many carats you would like...a princess cut is nice. ^^ also, what kind of diamonds would you like, like a classic? |

Hi Lola, for long and slender fingers look at marquise cut diamonds. These, by their very shape, are perfect running down the finger. With marquise cut diamonds it is important to get a well proportioned diamond - in other words look for a length to width ration of 2:1 (take the length measurement and divide it by the width measurement). Also, a good colour and clarity grade will ensure that the diamond sparkles majestically! The great thing about this cut of diamond is that they are generally around 5% - 10% cheaper than round diamonds :) Hope this helps. For any more information, please visit us at dejoria.co.uk |
